The exhibition “Dreams of Freedom. Romanticism in Russia and Germany” is one of the largest modern projects about the phenomenon of romanticism.
It’s just impossible for people to travel like this, but art can cross borders. This is valuable exhibition: works brought to Moscow from Germany, USA, Estonia.
The peculiarity of the exposition is that for the first time the works of Russian and German artists are exhibited together.
From the Russian side – these are Alexey Venetsianov and Alexander Ivanov familiar to us from childhood, they are “opposed” by representatives of Germany – Karl Gustav Karus and Caspar David Friedrich.
The exhibition is open until August 8, 2021 in the New Tretyakov Gallery.
