The exhibition “Rejected Masterpieces. The Challenge of Pavel Tretyakov” is the 20 most famous works of Russian art today, which at one time were greeted by the public with caution, and by the authorities – a ban.
Having examined the Exposition, you will receive answers to many questions:
- Why did V. Surikov’s “Boyarynya Morozova” fall into disgrace?
- Why was V. Perov removed from the exhibition “Rural religious procession at Easter” and banned from exhibiting I. Repin’s painting “Ivan the Terrible and his son Ivan…”?
- What was impermissible in the paintings “Birch Grove” by A. Kuindzhi and “Girl illuminated by the sun” by V. Serov?
- And, finally, the main question – Why did the famous collector Pavel Tretyakov buy these “disgraced canvases”?
The exhibition is open until March 13, 2022 at the Tretyakov Gallery at 10 Lavrushinsky Lane (Metro Tretyakovskaya).
Hotel Maroseyka 2/15 reminds of the need to observe the mask mode when visiting the Exhibitions.
